Q1 What type of sewage sludge melting system does KOBELCO ECO-SOLUTIONS adopt?

Sewage sludge melting systems are categorized into the following two types depending on whether sludge is directly melted to slag or not.
Direct melting type
-
Sewage sludge is dried during the first stage.
The dried sludge is then supplied into the melting furnace where is incinerated and melted to slag.
Ash melting type
- Sewage sludge is incinerated during the first stage.
- Ash is separated from flue gas and collected by a cyclone and a bagfilter.
- The collected ash is then transported to a melting furnace where it is melted to slag.
KOBELCO ECO-SOLUTIONS adopts the ash melting type.
Additionally, melting furnaces are categorized into the following three types depending on process configuration.
- Swirling flow type
- Coke-bed type
- Surface melting type
KOBELCO ECO-SOLUTIONS adopts the swirl flow type.
Our system is therefore called the Swirl Flow Ash Melting Furnace System. In this system ash is tangentially injected into the furnace where swirl flow occurs.
The temperature inside the furnace is approx. 1400 degree Celsius, melting the ash.
