Kobelco Eco-Solutions signs MoU with Cambodian MISTI
Spread of Small Scale Water Supply System

On February 22, 2021, Kobelco Eco-Solutions and The Ministry of Industry, Science,Technology & Innovation (MISTI) in Cambodia signed a MoU for the joint development of small scale water supply system.

As clean water coverage in rural areas remains low, MISTI has been trying to improve access to clean and safe water in partnership with Water and Sewer Bureau of Kitakyushu City in Japan and KOWBA^（※1）. Unlike in the large cities, it is essential that water supply in suburbs and farming areas meet the respective demands in each individual area.

Together with the local partner, Kobelco Eco-Solutions has established a local joint venture company, and the company has been operating water supply business in Koh Dach/Koh Oknha Tei areas (water supply coverage: Approx. 20,000 people). Including this project, by adopting the Kobelco’s unique ASF^（※2） technology, we have delivered a total of five small scale water supply systems in the country.

Following the above background, Kobelco Eco-Solutions and MISTI have signed the MoU. Taking this opportunity, we will enhance the relationship with MISTI in order to contribute for further promotion in developing water supply system as well as achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the country.

Our unique gravity-type rapid filtration system has the function to backwash the filter by utilizing siphon effect. Therefore, the system requires less number of component equipment, which can reduce the maintenance work volume as well as its electricity consumption
