Kobelco Eco-Solutions awarded contract
for capacity enhancement of water purification plant
in Takeo Province, Cambodia
〜Responds to growing water demand along with our 1^st plant〜

Kobelco Eco-Solutions was awarded a contract to deliver a water purification plant for capacity enhancement in Takeo Province of Cambodia. The client is a local company, SOMA Group Co., Ltd. (*1)

SOMA Group has purified raw water from a lake to supply tap water to its service areas around Bati Lake in the north of Takeo Province since 2014. SOMA Group has an exclusive license for the water supply business. We delivered the 1st water purification facility with the capacity of 1,080m³ per day to serve about 2,300 households (10,000 people) and commercial facilities.

SOMA Group decided to add a new line of water purification facility, given the growing demand for tap water in its original service areas as well as a residential area newly developed. The 1^st water purification facility using our ASF (*2) system is highly valued, which leads to the award of this 2^nd contract to install the same system for the expansion.

This is our seventh project of water purification plant supply in Cambodia. With the mission to create a healthy environment and life for future generations through our innovative thinking, we will contribute to facilitating water treatment business in Cambodia and Southeast Asia, as well as achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the region.

(*1) SOMA Group…A Cambodian conglomerate engaged in agriculture, trading, construction, and other businesses. SOMA Group also established the joint venture company with us in 2018. The JV company implements water supply business in the suburb of Phnom Penh

(*2) ASF…Automatic Siphon Filter. Our unique gravity-type rapid filtration system has the function to backwash the filter by utilizing siphon effect. Thus, the system requires less number of component equipment, which can reduce the maintenance work volume as well as its electricity consumption.

Construction Period: Completion of commissioning is expected in March 2022
