PCB waste disposal (detoxification)

Polychlovinated Bipheryl (PCBs) are chemical substances that persist in the environment and accumulate through the food and may pose adverse effects to human and the environment.

In Japan, PCB wastes and PCB-containing oils used in transformers and capacitors must be disposed by 2016 in accordance with the Law concerning Special Measures for Promotion of Proper Treatment of PCB wastes. Kobelco-Eco Solutions provides an efficient and environmentally friendly process without incineration.

We respond to the needs of detoxification of these harmful substances in order to protect the global environment.

Liquid PCB decomposition technology (SP process)
  • Technology to chemically decompose and treat liquid PCB extracted from transformers and capacitors.
  • In Japan this technology is adopted in wide-area treatment facilities driven by the government as well as private in-house treatment facilities.
PCB wastes decontamination technology (SED process)
  • Technology to remove PCB from materials on which PCB remains such as transformers and capacitors after PCB extraction.
  • In Japan this technology is adopted in wide-area treatment facilities driven by the government.
Various PCB wastes destruction technology (plasma melting)
  • Technology to treat various PCB contaminated matter with different shapes and aspects, such as fluorescent light ballast, sludge, waste cloth and carbonless paper.
  • In Japan this technology is adopted in wide-area treatment facilities driven by the government.for the first time in the world.
